Vitamin D in Winter: What Really Helps
☀️ The days are getting shorter, the sun is lower in the sky—and here in the Inn Valley, in some spots it’s already disappearing behind the mountains by early afternoon.
Why this is important: Our bodies produce vitamin D primarily through the skin when exposed to sunlight. From October through March, the sun is usually not strong enough for this.
✅ Get outside as often as possible—in both summer and winter. Exercise in the fresh air strengthens muscles and bones. ✅ Fish, eggs, and mushrooms contribute a little—but you get very little vitamin D from food alone. ⚠️ Please do not supplement based on suspicion alone: Supplements are only recommended if a deficiency has been confirmed.
💬 Whether you need anything else depends on your situation. Just bring it up with us at your next appointment, and we’ll figure out together what makes sense for you.
